Recently, I heard the lyrics of a gospel song titled, “Love, Love, Love”. In the chorus, there was a line that referred to love being “the one thing we all could use more of.” What a sobering thought, could it be possible that “LOVE” alone could be what our world really needs the most? It seems a simple thing, but when you consider it, the thought rings of truth.
God is LOVE, and love is what we need! As I pondered over this idea, I began to think of Jesus and how he spread love throughout his ministry. I thought about our Savior and what he did for us. His entire life leading up to his death was filled with love. Love for the sick, love for the poor, love for the stranger, and love for the children.
LOVE was what brought him to earth, to live and die for me and for you. He laid down his life showing the greatest love ever. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:3 KJV) LOVE carried him to the cross, LOVE held him on the cross, but most importantly, LOVE brought him back to life, so that through his death we too might live.
This Easter help us as we reach out to widows and children, the poor and lonely; those who need to hear and experience what true love is all about. Help us show the same LOVE Jesus demonstrated, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”(Romans 5:8 KJV)
Thank you for your gifts. They help us show love on a daily basis as we reach out to rescue those in peril, assist those struggling, and teach the love of Christ by example to all we come in contact with
