No Greater Joy
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” 3 John 1:4 (NIV)
One of the things that bring great joy to my heart is to know my children are walking with the Lord.
Not only my biological children but also those children in Romania whom I have learned to love as my own. At Bread of Life Orphanage and Youth Transition Program, we always work toward gently leading our charges toward a life of faith in Christ and pray that our efforts will bear fruit. Baptism, the public profession of committing your life to Christ, is a very important step in this life of faith.
Recently, three of the young women in our Youth Transition Program made that public step of faith in baptism. These young ladies, Niculina, Andrea, and Simona, have spent several years of their lives as part of the Bread of Life family and are very special to me. I remember the day when I first met each one. I was privileged to go with the team the day Niculina came into the orphanage. And I have watched her grow and blossom into the beautiful, caring young woman she is today. I remember the small village Andrea came from and the little church where she attended the feeding center. She has always been helpful with the younger children at the orphanage and doesn’t seem to meet a stranger. And shy Simona I first met at the orphanage, she’s a little quiet and reserved, but has such a gentle spirit about her. All three of these young ladies are enough to make a mother’s heart proud, and their commitment to Christ is even more precious.
