Just imagine how it feels…
Many times while growing up, a question stirred within my heart: Why did God choose some of us to be born in Christian families? Even more intensely during the last 16 years serving with Bread of Life, I have pondered this question. As our Outreach Projects minister to poor Romanian communities, I am repeatedly reminded of the many blessings in my life growing up. Each time I am exposed to extreme poverty, I realize the blessing of the little we had growing up. When we encounter parents that abuse, neglect or abandon their children I recognize the blessing of loving, although imperfect parents who sacrificed much, trying to do a perfect job for me and my six siblings. When we encounter the lack of Christian values in many poor families, I feel blessed and appreciative of Christians who strive to be a testimony to others around them. Maybe you grew up with the same blessings in your life.
Imagining yourself as one of the little children growing up in one of these families around Brosteni or one of the feeding centers would probably bring tears to your eyes. Tears of sadness, to see them in such terrible conditions; tears of appreciation for all of the little blessings we have and they do not; and tears of hope that we can help change their future. Realizing God’s blessings on our lives, I understand we have been blessed to help the needy ones. Mathew 25:40 “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me”. Maybe you have heard this verse so often it sounds like a cliché and you may have grown tired of hearing it, but it is still true and applicable today. God allowed me and you to have a different path so that we can reach out to the least of these His children and help them.
Just imagine how they feel during these cold months when most of their saved food is consumed. This is a time of despair for them. When others around them have food and warmth, they are cold, hungry and dirty. Imagine how they would feel if they were clean and had food and warm clothes! This is our goal and we invite you to be a part of the solution to their problem though the Bread of Life Feeding Program. We want to bless as many children and poor families as possible by providing them with food, clothing and hygiene products during the coming months. However, we need your help to reach more children and poor families with the love of Christ. There is truly no greater blessing than being able to bless others.
