Before I give you an update on Bread of Life’s Brother’s Keeper Project I feel I must first explain how things work here in Romania. The Romanian government does not offer full support for people who are too poor to care for themselves. Some families live very much on the edge.
At the present time, because of the generosity of organizations who are regular suppliers of food, we have enough to share and therefore we must do what we can. Currently we are helping 17 families in our village of Brosteni. The “Ionescu” family, for example, has five children and neither parent has a job. The father gets occasional work but nothing that is stable. By providing food assistance to this family we hope that they can stay together as a family.
