Around the World
Do you remember the first trips you went on with family or friends as a little child? Somehow this always stays us with and we always remember them as references for future adventures. I can still remember the first trips we took with our family to the mountains and the sea.
Recently, we had a similar opportunity with the children at the Bread of Life Orphanage in Brosteni, Romania. When we shared with the children the news that some ministry friends had invited them to take a trip to the town of Suceava, located about 2 hours away, they were all extra excited. Those who that had been sick were suddenly all better; the ones with homework finished quickly making sure they wouldn’t miss out on the trip. Their facial expressions and nervous reactions were like we had just told them they were going on a journey around the world. Some of the little ones even started to cry; afraid they would not be able to go.
It is always a blessing to be able to do more than feeding and teaching the children we have at the BOLO. Such small occasions as this, mean so much to them and helps them feel loved.
It might look like just a short trip to most of us and that is exactly what it was since Suceava is the closest large town, but to the new children who had rarely if ever been away from their home, this was like the trip of a lifetime.
For the children, the time we spent with our friends, fellowshipping in a local church and visiting the old fortress was a blessed experience they will never forget. We can confirm the truth of the scripture in Acts 20:35 “it is more blessed to give than to receive” when we see the joy and excitement in the faces of the children when they are privileged to enjoy such a time as this.
We are happy to report such activities that we do with the children. We love them and we show this through our daily dedication but also by taking the time to have little special things like this trip that meant a lot to them.
This is what we do at BOLO a ministry to the body, mind, and soul. Through all of these, we share your love for the neglected children of Romania.
