A Transformed Family
The children of the Buhnila family have been with us for many years now. These children came from unbelievable situations in a remote gypsy village where their parents struggled to raise them with very little. The little house where the parents live has no utilities or running water and because the father has a severe medical condition disabling him, he cannot work. Trying to care for a disabled husband and raise their children became overwhelming for this mother. A Christian brother nearby knew they were caught in this complicated situation and connected them to Bread of Life. Over the years we have helped, six of the children in this family with the three youngest currently being part of the BOL family: Cristina is in the 4th grade, and Elisabeta and Stefania are both in the 7th grade. Stefania likes to read and listen to Christian music, Elisabeta is praying for her dream of being a nurse to become a reality, and Cristina likes animals a lot.
Over the years we have noticed that the children in this family have some learning disabilities and it takes a sustained effort from them to keep up with the other children in school. But just like in the Bible parable with the talents where some receive more and some receive less, it is what we do with what we receive that makes the difference. Even though these girls may not excel academically, they are still God’s creation, wonderfully put together by Him, and they have many good qualities that we appreciate.
They are very gentle and dedicated in all they do. The ways they help each other and the good relationships they have with people make them unique. We are thankful to God that he allowed us to cross paths and be able to make a difference in their lives. It is quite normal for children with their problems to drop out of school and end up being victims of an exploiting society. Here we help them use their little abilities and will not stop until they do their best. We encourage you to pray for them to be able to use their God given abilities to make a difference for His glory.
